We seek happiness in so many places: In money, in fame, in possessions. We never really think to seek happiness itself and let the rest fall in place. Positive Leadership, by Steve Gladis, is to happiness and a positive lookout as Stephen Covey’s First Things First is to time management. It will help you focus on the things that lead to happiness and a positive attitude. Although the idea behind the book is becoming a positive leader and influencing your team and team members in a positive way, anyone can benefit from the book, because in order to become a positive leader, you need to become a positive person first.

The book provides the reader with various ways to focus on positive relationships, personal strengths, and positive attitudes. For example, many of us get caught up in trying to improve our weaknesses, when it is our strengths we should focus on. We do need to find ways to negate or delegate our weaknesses, but would you rather focus your time and efforts on becoming mediocre at something you are bad at, or would you rather focus on becoming the best at what you are good at?

The book is split into two parts. The first part is like a “How To” on positivity that is backed up with plenty of research and examples. The second part is a narrative where you are shown the material through the eyes of fictional characters that are being transformed by the principles of positive leadership. The great thing about the way that it is written is that not only do the two parts complement each other, but book has two different ways to resonate with different types of readers.
